Membership

Membership

The membership of the Association is composed of regular members, student members, supporting members, and honorary members.

Membership fees are tax deductible. We are able to provide financial assistance to individual journalists or organizations with limited funds – email us to learn more.

Regular members

Regular membership may be granted to any person who does not currently identify as a cisgender man. Said person must either be employed as a journalist covering business, finance, or related fields, or devote a majority of their paid working time to such journalism.

Producers of sponsored content, copywriters and editors, and other non-source facing newsroom personnel are not eligible for this type of membership.

Memberships are available both for individual journalists and for entire newsrooms. Email us.

Student members

Student membership may be granted to any woman who is a full-time student enrolled in a journalism or media course in an accredited college or university with an interest in business journalism, or who is a full-time student enrolled in an accredited college or university with a proven interest or previous experience in business journalism.

Memberships are available both for individual students and for journalism schools at-large. Email us.

Supporting members

Supporting membership may be granted to individuals who are not journalists but who support the mission of the AWBJ, such as media executives, journalism educators, or professionals in related fields, or to individuals who identify as cisgender men.

Producers of sponsored content, copywriters and editors, and other non-source facing newsroom personnel are eligible for this type of membership.

Memberships are available both for individuals and for entire groups – for example, a PR firm can seek to buy membership for a group of its staff. Email us.

Honorary members

Honorary membership may be granted by the Board of Directors to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of business journalism or to the advancement of women in the profession. Decisions concerning whether an individual meets these criteria shall be at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors.
